Happy 100th Birthday, Douglas!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Rev. Douglas B. Tupper of Halifax who will celebrate his 100th birthday on July 19. He and his wife Janet marked another milestone, their 68th anniversary, on June 28.

Douglas wrote entrance exams and was accepted as an arts and theological student at Mount A in 1928, "it wasn’t so much the appeal of theology as the appeal of more education" that drove him.

Green Chemistry

Two undergraduate students at Mount A are at the forefront of research into making industrial chemicals more environmentally-friendly.

J.M. Lauzon ('07), who graduated in the spring with a bachelor of science in chemistry, and Philip Cormier ('08), who is entering his fourth year of studies in science, are the only two undergraduate students in the world working in their respected fields of green chemistry.


J.M. and Philip were featured in the Telegraph Journal, CBC Moncton and Information Morning on July 3.

The Marsh is Buzzing

Sackville is buzzing...the Festival by the Marsh officially starts today!

As usual, there are plenty of Allisonian participation. The Musical Theatre Workshop Faculty is a perfect example:

A one week workshop for young people aged high school and up being held July 16 – 21 is led by professional playwright/director Mike Allison ('00) with Kyle McDavid ('06), Alan MacDonald ('07) and Brian Hawkes ('09) with a final presentation of an adapted musical. Read their profiles.

Who are we, anyway?

Here's a picture of the lovely people of the External Relations Department at a conference in PEI this past June.

ER includes the Development Office, the Alumni Office and Communications. Presently, we are a group of very hard-working women. What's great is that we actually all get along great! Especially the first Wednesday of every month, which is POT LUCK DAY!

Right now, I'm working on staff profiles with pictures so you'll be able to read all about our staff in the near future. I think it's always great to have a face to a name, don't you?

NEW SITE!

I am extremely happy to announce that our new Development Office site is finally up and running!

I think we can all agree that it was hard to figure out how to "Give to Mount A" on our old site. My goal with this new site was to make it easier, and also to let people know what exactly we do over here at External Relations!

I will be keeping it up to date, and I still have a few things to add, like staff profiles with pictures.
